Warming and Uplifting
Cinnamon, or Cinnamomum verum, has been highly valued as a spice and reliable, well documented, medicinal herb since ancient Egyptian times.
It has been shown in studies to help treat a number of skin conditions, including rashes, acne, and blemishes, but it is also commonly used to sooth inflammation, infection, and hair loss. Cinnamon is naturally antiseptic, anti-microbial, and anti-fungal, meaning is kills microbes that can cause a wide range of skin issues.
Since it is anti-microbial, cinnamon can help with hair growth, can fight dandruff, kill of skin fungus, AND the anti-oxidants can help repair and prevent split ends or dry hair problems. Because cinnamon has antioxidant properties and can stimulate blood flow or circulation, it can help the aging process of skin. As a circulation booster, cinnamon can actually be a great natural lip plumper as well.
Cinnamon is most known for being stimulating and warming. It’s also been called an aphrodisiac. It can increase concentration, improve memory, help relieve anxiety or stress, and helps deter lethargy and depression.
Cinnamon is a small evergreen tree, native to southern India, but is currently cultivated in Madagascar and the Seychelles.
The oil is obtained from the bark or leaf of the plant via steam distillation.
